That, and making a game in that style runs the risk of it blending in with the multitude of other games and becoming yet another shitty licensed game. Lionsgate specifically wanted something that wasn't your run-of-the-mill shoot 'em up, and I think that's admirable. However, if you watch a video where Mike Bithell talks about making the game, it's clear the guy is trying to do justice to the movies while also bringing something fresh and unique to the table. Yes, a majority of people expected and would rather have a first/third-person shooter for a John Wick game. Yeah, the art style may leave something to be desired for most. Just sucks to see so many people reacting negatively to this release.
