12/15/2023 0 Comments Redline monocog fixed gearThe aluminum version look only looks slightly better (they fixed the fork offset). My 07 Haro Mary had that geometry - its what gave early 29ers a reputation for poor handling. It has awfully dated geometry (39mm fork offset, 72 degree head tube angle, long stays). Its a great solution and while I did have one in my junk box at the time I never thought to use it until much later. I dont see anything I like about the steel Monocog. (Link: ) A Tuggnut costs about $30 and wouldn't have risked unrepairable damage to the frame. It also takes some equipment not everyone has like a welder.Ī not so extreme repair would have been to use a Surly Tuggnut chain tensioner. Welding and forming part of the frame could have caused a crack or some other unrepairable damage to the frame. The sliding dropouts still moved a little on really steep climbs or during hard breaking but it wasn't noticeable and it wasn't enough movement to make the tire rub. I took it out for several rides after this repair and it was a lot better. The tires of this monocog bike are designed to grip well on any terrain. It comes with vee rail 29×2.25-inch tires grip. This means that you can ride on rough terrains with minimum impact and maximum comfort. This repair was a bit extreme but worked well and only took a few hours to complete. This bicycle’s wheels are made from aluminum alloy and tis helps you keep rolling over obstacles and impact. Unfortunately I don't have pics of the heat treatment.
